Questionnaire Response

Steve Ashton - Thompson

1. Why did you decide to run in the 2016 Manitoba election?

This election is critical to Thompson and the North. We need to continue to invest in, not cut Northern health, education, highways, housing and social services.

2. What experience will you bring to complement your role as MLA?

As MLA for Thompson I have been proud to represent our region in the Manitoba Legislature. I have also had the honour to serve in Cabinet where I have worked with our NDP government to rebuild our infrastructure and fight three major floods. While this experience is important the most important experience is the experience of my constituent. Their problems. Their concerns. Their ideas. My goal is to always to speak out

3. Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

We need nothing less than social and economic justice for all our citizens. That is why I am so proud of our parties commitment to achieving this.

4. What key issue(s) / topic(s) would like to stand for in your role as MLA, and why is it important to you?

Continuing to invest in roads, infrastructure and flood mitigation.

5. What is one thing in particular that you value about the electoral division that you wish to represent?

It is a true cross section of Northern Manitoba.

6. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I am honored to once again seek the support of the people of the Thompson constituency.
