Charles Ward - Assiniboia
What key issues / topics will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
Health Care is the most prominent issue for me. My good Friend Jim Reandeau and I came to this for similar problems at the Grace Hospital.
In my case, I lost my wife to a preventable issue. As I dug into the issue, I discovered how broken the systems are. We have healthcare professionals working beyond anything we would ask of any human being.
They come in every day and work like heroes with flagging support.
We must aid these frontline workers and bring our healthcare system up to modern standards.
And, of course, our Seniors. I lost my mother in the mess created at the Maples care home. And here we are a few years later, none of the recommendations lagging. Issues continue to grow, and we continue to lose our seniors to neglect.
While our current MLA and government seem oblivious to the issues going on.
During the Chamber of Commerce debate, the current MLA could not even answer a question on bill 238 if it was proclaimed. We know it has not been and has been on his desk since May. The answer is that we will get it done. When? How many more Seniors will pass before action is taken?
We need to increase the level of aid for our seniors while increasing the number of activities for them in the area and, at the same time, working to keep them safely and happy in their homes as long as they wish.
