Questionnaire Response
What key issues / topics does your party stand for, and why are these important?
Affordability and helping Manitobans make ends meet. The NDP-Trudeau carbon tax is hurting families, as is the rising cost of living. That’s why we are committed to lowering income taxes and giving Manitobans an extra paycheque.
Community safety is also paramount. We are the only party committed to defending, not defunding the police.
We are working to heal our healthcare system and make our communities stronger.
What are the first things you will do if you form government after this election?
Within the first 10 days, we will instruct Manitoba Hydro to remove the carbon tax from Hydro bills.
We will continue our focus on healing our healthcare system and making streets safer.
We’re the only party with a plan and a vision to grow our economy.

Letters, Sept. 11 – Winnipeg Free Press
11 September 2023
Winnipeg Free Press - Recently one of our close relatives needed to use our health-care system and the system worked marvellously. Roughly 38 per cent of our population are “boomers” and are needing more and more care in our hospitals. Menec states health-care workers received an 8.35 per cent wage increase over five years, an average of 1.69 per cent per year. Google tells me an average annual wage for health care workers in Manitoba is $29,751, so their wage increase for the year works out to be the princely sum of $496.84. The City of Winnipeg should change its slogan from, ‘made from what’s real’ to ‘penny wise and pound foolish.’Mike EdwardsWinnipeg

Liberal platform delivers big ideas – Brandon Sun
9 September 2023
Brandon Sun - OpinionIn his editorial published in the past Wednesday’s Sun, editor Matt Goerzen expressed his disappointment over the absence of big ideas in the current provincial election campaign. The death of big ideas in our politics only serves the interests of those who seek power and wish to retain it.”He’s right, but the situation may not be quite as bad as it appears. Earlier this week, the Manitoba Liberal Party did something that neither the Tories nor New Democrats have done thus far: they released their party’s entire election platform, along with detailed cost estimates. A number of them can certainly be described as “big ideas” that could capably form the foundation for the kind of discussions that should occur during election campaigns. If that happens, there is every possibility that some of the ideas in the Liberal platform could eventually be implemented.
